9x19 Der perfekte Anzug // Vesuvius

Zum Episodentitel hab ich Folgendes gelesen:

"Vesuvius... booya.. oh wait, that doesnt fit"

That quotation is from this season's second episode, "coming back". Ted is at a table in the hotel bar one year later with YM, and he is explaining to her that one year ago he was sitting at the same table doing a crossword and he made a promise to himself that he would bring her back in a year (though he hadn't yet met her).

Anyway, he's doing the crossword in a show-boaty way (as YM predicts) and he gets very excited that he figures out the correct solution to one of the clues: VESUVIUS! Only to immediately notice that, "oh wait, that doesn't fit."

The most recent episode is named "Vesuvius". Why? Did anyone really erupt like a volcano? Is that how one would describe Lily's anger towards Robin's lack of sentimentality? Did Barney erupt during his suit conflict? Was Ted's sadness in the last scene a Vesuvius-like eruption? I don't think so.

So why is it called "Vesuvius"?

On face value, I think the episode made it clear that Ted is choked up because he is reminded that YM is going to be dead and unable to attend their daughter's future wedding. Many people have come to that conclusion.

But is it possible that HIMYM just made us all exclaim "Vesuvius!" "Booyah!" (as in, now I get it, I finally know how this series is going to end) Only for it to have really been a clue back to episode 2 where we realize (like Ted) that "oh wait, that doesn't fit."

This episode makes it seem like the mother is dead. But, if this episode is named "Vesuvius", and we already know that "Vesuvius" is not the right answer, it just seemed like it was for a moment, then perhaps this is a red herring episode where incorrect conclusions were supposed to be made. "
